GIANNIS KOUTRIKAS

GIANNIS KOUTRIKAS (1954 – ) was born in Kalamata in 1954. From 1966 until 1978 he lived in Chicago, USA where she studied Biology at the University of Illinois.

He studied painting at the School of Fine Arts (1982- 1987), and was a student of Mytaras. Upon graduation he received the scholarship from the State Scholarship Foundation (IKY) for the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He also studied for seven years near Giannis Tsarouchis and for a short time near D.Perdikidis. His subject matters are revolving mostly around landscapes and human-compositions with expressionistic mood. Koutrikas emphasizes drama, expressiveness and sensuality with skilled lighting and shading. Classicality, balance, harmony, perfect structure are the characteristics of his works.

Since 1982 he has presented his work in numerous solo exhibitions and many group exhibitions. Moreover, you can find his work in galleries in Greece and abroad as well as in private collections worldwide.
