The internationally renowned painter and sculptor Kostis Georgiou is returning to his hometown of Thessaloniki, to present at the Kapopoulos Fine Arts gallery, a series of works he created in recent years. The opening will take place on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, in the presence of the artist.
This solo exhibition comes after the very great success of Kostis Georgiou’s exhibition ENIGMA 2, at the HELLENIC WORLD Cultural Center, of the Greater Hellenism Foundation in Athens, in September 2022, which had a retrospective nature and left an excellent impression. Kostis Georgiou presents paintings from the last period of his creation, which give his stamp on art, map his own globally recognizable visual language. He also presents a series of small sculptures inspired by his large-scale sculptural installations with the well-known red acrobat-dancers such as those of the METEORON project recently installed on the beach of Thessaloniki, as well as other similar sculptures of monumental dimensions, installed in public spaces and squares in Europe, America and China. Kostis Georgiou’s previous exhibition in Thessaloniki was held in 2019 at the TELLOGLIO ARTS FOUNDATION OF THESSALONIKI University of Arts and then moved to the SISMANOGLIO MEGARO in Istanbul under the auspices of the Greek Consulate.
Note that 5% of the sales of the exhibition’s works will be allocated to support the “Association of Friends of Papageorgiou Hospital, I Antirida”. Kostis Georgiou is a painter and sculptor with international reach and influence. His sculptures, of monumental dimensions, are installed in Belgium (St. Elizabeth Hospital-Brussels), in China (Vanke Mall, Yia Yuan Gardens etc), in Athens (Greek riviera – Vouliagmeni, Voula, P. Faliro), in Alexandroupolis, in Luxembourg, Canada, Miami, etc. His works can also be found in major museums, institutions and banks in Greece and abroad and he has received many awards and distinctions (Japan, Italy, Belgium, etc.). Works by Kostis Georgios have been auctioned by SOTHEBY’S – BONHAM’S – CHRISTIE’S in London.
