ANDRE MONET SOLO SHOW

Andre Monet presents “Legends” – Opening November 14 in the presence of the artist The Canadian artist Andre Monet presents his first solo exhibition in Athens, which opens at the Kapopoulos Fine Arts gallery on Skoufa Street on November 14, entitled “Legends”.

Andre Monet especially loves Greece and Greek culture. He will even be present at the opening of the exhibition, as he has moved in the last six months, together with his wife of Greek origin, Joanne Vrakas and their two boys to our country. She is a TV presenter and journalist and together with Antre Monet, they are one of the most popular couples in Canada. Inspired by cinema, music, literature, fashion, but also political and social life, Andre Monet presents “Legends” of the world scene with his own unique technique.

He creates unique collages from maps and newspapers, on which he then paints his portraits, allowing fragments of the maps and clippings to emerge and become part of the face. This technique is today his signature. His works are paraded by Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain, as models of international showbiz. Among the legends from the cinema, Audrey Hepburn, James Dean, Marilyn Monroe, Angelina Jolie, from the field of music Maria Callas, Freddie Mercury, David Bowie, but also Winston Churchill from the field of politics, Coco Chanel and model Emily Ratajkowski, from Fashion.

In his portraits also Greek gods such as Apollo and Persephone whom he creates with many small dots that convey their characteristics. Monet maintains a completely natural relationship with modern man and his concerns, with today’s society, its rhythms, its ways and this is also depicted in his works. Born in Montreal, Monet studied graphic design at Laval University while also dabbling in fine arts. He worked in fashion and advertising before devoting himself entirely to art. He dabbled in various media such as mosaic, collage and acrylics. In recent years he has become very popular for his portraits. The artist’s goal is to highlight the deepest psyche of the faces he captures with his unique techniques. In fact, he was recently chosen by the couple of Prince William and Kate Middleton to create their own anniversary portrait. With great success in recent years, Monet’s work has been exhibited in Paris, London, New York, Seoul, Singapore, Miami, Toronto, Montreal, Dubai and Hong Kong.

From London to New York and beyond, Andre Monet is represented in over 100 major galleries, and his works are held by some of the world’s greatest collectors, spanning the fields of music, sports and film. In his new exhibition at the Kapopoulos Fine Arts gallery you can admire some of the most legendary figures on the world stage and discover the new series of iconic Gods, inspired by Andre Monet’s new life here in Greece.
